BCMB/WACCBIP Graduate Internship Programme 2021

The Department of Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology (BCMB) and the West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP) are offering a Graduate Internship Programme for new graduates to work in an environment that supports and promotes the development of research leadership.

As a Department and a Centre of Excellence for biomedical research, BCMB/WACCBIP supports a wide range of high caliber research activities; in conjunction with its international, regional, and national partners. Our intention is to recruit a cohort of national service personnel some of whom will be dedicated to work as Teaching Assistants (18), Research Assistants (26), and Administrative/Technical Assistants (6). You will therefore be required to indicate your desired role for consideration.
Eligibility
To apply for this programme, you must:

  1. Have completed undergraduate studies by June 2021 and registered for National Service.
  2. Have majored in any of the Biological Sciences, Computer Science, Chemistry, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Accounting, Law, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, English, Communications, or Linguistics.
  3. Be hardworking, highly motivated and interested in promoting scientific research and training.


Responsibilities of Graduate Interns will include:

    • Assist in teaching activities/practical laboratory sessions at BCMB
    • Assist in research activities at WACCBIP
    • Contribute to the delivery of training programmes at WACCBIP
    • Participate in research conferences and workshops
    • Carry out a research project and participate in research journal club.
    • Perform any other responsibilities assigned by the HoD, Director and/or immediate supervisor


Due to the extra efforts required for effective research, successful Graduate Interns who excel in their research projects will be eligible for the award of research stipend based on a positive evaluation of the research outputs
